Orlando Family Dentistry
If you feel confused about the difference between family dentists and general dentists, you’re not alone. They share many similarities, such as diagnosis and treatment of oral health problems and promotion of good oral hygiene. The primary difference is that general dentists may only work with adult patients while a family dentist sees patients from infancy through old age.
Dr. Thi Pham of Smile Solutions Orlando provides dental services for your entire family. She understands that finding a dentist who can meet the needs of children, senior citizens, disabled individuals, and adults from college age to middle age can be challenging. A family dentist must have in-depth knowledge of life stages as well as exceptional skill in treating dental health challenges. As an experienced family dentist, Dr. Pham respects each patient as a unique individual. She works hard to find the best treatment plan for each person’s needs.
Categories of Family Dentistry Services
Dr. Pham offers numerous services, all of which fall into one of these categories:
- Cosmetic Dentistry: Dr. Pham offers several voluntary procedures to help you improve your appearance and smile. Some of these include teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and dental bonding.
- Preventive Dentistry: We always prefer to prevent dental problems rather than treat them, so we encourage all patients to come in every six months for a thorough cleaning and exam. This helps to prevent tooth decay and infections as well as tooth loss and other serious issues. When you come in for a check-up, Dr. Pham completes X-rays and uses other specialized dental equipment to determine if you have any oral health issues that require additional follow-up.
- Restorative Dentistry: These include procedures Dr. Pham completes to treat a specific dental health issue, such as wisdom tooth extraction, TMJ treatment, crowns or bridges, or dental implants. She diagnoses most problems during routine exams, but you’re also welcome to schedule an appointment if you’re experiencing pain or notice anything unusual.
Dr. Pham doesn’t expect her youngest patients to act like adults. After all, going to the dentist is a very new experience for them. She helps them feel comfortable by using common language, a calm tone, and taking the time to explain exactly what she’s doing. She avoids words that might cause anxiety, such as drill or pull, and speaks to kids in an encouraging rather than a scolding manner. It’s her goal to make oral care as fun as possible so kids look forward to caring for their own teeth at home.
